An artist never really finishes his work; he merely abandons it

i love this quote as it is so very true for me! more so when it comes to creating collages than drawings. i always have to sit with my collages awhile, usually placed on my crowded bookshelf so i can look at them before i go to sleep at night and when i'm sitting petting my cats. after a few days of this i can determine if they are truly finished...or as the quote implies just abandoned!!

only a few more hours tonight on this drawing and it's done! yay! and off in the mail tomorrow! and then onto some exciting new drawings!!

~these small collages will be listed in my etsy shop next week if interested!~

I love the look of your collage work Kat! I hope you'll list them =-)

I like the quote too - it reminds of a similar one:

An artist's work is never finished; they just stop at an interesting place

I don't remember who said it, but I liked it =-)

Another favorite and similar quote: “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” Leonardo da Vinci

I need breaks between looking at work and finishing it - a little time to forget and then when I see it next I know what to do.

Lovely collages! They have an extra dimension to them and a poetic feel!

I know what you mean! I have been doing a lot of art journal pages and I keep looking back at them, tweaking, adding or sometimes removing elements. It just has to feel right! These are beautiful!!
